I’ve been on the hunt for unique activity books for kids since seeing Evolution: A Coloring Book at a local store. The bar has certainly been raised since I was a kid! But oh how I loved crossword and coloring books back then. Still do.
Here are 15 of some of the most fabulous I’ve found. Please add any I’ve missed to the comments.
Draw, Paint, Print Like the Great Artists by Marion Denchars.
Beast!: A Coloring Book on etsy.
Author-Illustrator Starter Kit from McSweeney’s.
Play All Day by Taro Gomi.
Kimonos by Annelore Parot from Chronicle Books.
Don’t Let the Pigeon Finish This Activity Book by Mo Willems.
Archi-doodle by Steve Bowkett.
My Animals/Mis Animales by Rebecca Emberley.
The Game of Patterns by Hervé Tullet.
Alphabeasties Amazing Activities from Chronicle Books.
A Tiger in My Garden DIY Pop-Up Book by Arno.
Let’s Sew Together by Rubyellen Bratcher.
Make Art With Your Hands and Feet tracing book.

Love the concept of the Make Art With Your Hands and Feet tracing book.
Takes the Emberley’s brilliant thumbprints concept and makes it bigger!
Are there pages specifically for two kids to share? Like – your hand and my foot make XXX?
Oh, I’m not sure. I flipped through it in a store but I don’t have it in front of me to check on that. I have a feeling there’s a way to collaborate! 🙂
Wow! There are some great books here! I’m thinking there are a couple I should buy for my son for Christmas, specifically, the pop-up and archidoodle ones. Gotta see if I can get them in time!
Thanks!

Sounds like you’ve got a builder/designer type in the house! 🙂
A DIY pop-up book!! I’ve got to get myself that one!
Right?! I know what you mean!
Wow, who knew Lisa Loeb had a children’s book! That’s awesome, I listened to her songs nonstop in high school, so I have faith in her. I’ve been meaning to get that Kimono book for Maddy for awhile…just trying to pace myself with all your recommendations, but it’s next up! 🙂
Wow! Just the list I need for my princesses!! Thanks!
An inspiring list…
